102 Stout Malt Liquor 16 Oz Tab Top Can

General Brewing's 102 Malt Liquor

The 102 Stout Malt Liquor 16 Oz Tab Top Can represents a notable chapter in the mid-century brewing heritage of General Brewing Co. in Los Angeles, California. Stemming from the historic lineage of Los Angeles' Maier Brewing Company—famous for its landmark brewery alongside the local freeway and its flagship Brew 102 label—the brand was maintained and expanded under General Brewing Company's regional portfolio.

Design and Collector Significance

Issued in the larger 16-ounce "half-quart" format, this can provided an alternative to standard 12-ounce containers. The face of the can features distinct graphics created specifically for the malt liquor extension, headlined by a prominent bull illustration that visually signaled a heavier malt product.

For collectors of California breweriana and malt liquor labels, 16-ounce cans from this era are widely collected due to their larger display profile and connection to historic Southern California brewing institutions.

Production Variations

Collectors track variations of this can stemming from different manufacturing batches and regional distribution requirements. These differences generally encompass subtle alterations in mandatory brewery phrasing, canning plant identifiers, and text placement around the seam. As a cornerstone of Los Angeles brewing history, the can remains a key piece for those archiving the full evolution of the "102" brand family.
