Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026

BeerCanTracker is operated by Kramer Software LLC, doing business as BeerCanTracker. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect only what the service needs, and we do not sell or share your personal information. The only advertising on the Service is affiliate links to marketplace listings, such as eBay listings we may earn a commission from. These links are the same for every visitor: they are not personalized, and they use no tracking or advertising cookies on our site.

Information we collect

  • Account information: a username, an email address, and a password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form; we cannot see them. When you sign up with an email address we send a verification link to it and record when the address was verified.
  • Google sign-in: if you choose to sign in with Google, Google sends us your name, your email address, your profile picture, and a Google account identifier. We use the email address to find or create your account, store the identifier so we can recognize your later sign-ins, and may use your name to suggest a username. We do not store your profile picture, and we receive nothing else from your Google account: no contacts, no calendar, no files, and no access to Gmail.
  • Collection activity: the collections and wishlists you create, including the cans you add to them and the settings you choose for each list.
  • Membership and billing information: if you buy a paid membership, we record whether your membership is active, the plan you chose, when it renews or ends, and which store you bought it through. We also keep a history of subscription events (such as purchase, renewal, cancellation, expiration, and billing problems) as reported to us by our billing provider, including the amount and currency charged and the transaction identifiers the provider assigned. We never receive or store your card number, expiration date, or security code.
  • Sign-in records: the time of your last sign-in and your active sessions, kept for account security.

Payments

Paid memberships are sold through RevenueCat, a subscription billing service, with card payments processed by Stripe. When you subscribe on our website, the checkout form is provided by RevenueCat and Stripe: you enter your payment details directly with them, and those details never pass through our servers. So that the purchase can be attached to your account and a receipt can be sent to you, we give RevenueCat an internal account identifier and your email address. RevenueCat then tells us the status of your subscription and notifies us of subscription events, which is how member features unlock and how we keep the billing history described above. RevenueCat and Stripe handle your payment details under their own privacy policies.

If you subscribe inside our iOS or Android app, the purchase is made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and is billed and managed by Apple or Google under their terms and privacy policies. In that case we receive only your subscription status and store-assigned identifiers, never your payment details.

You can see your membership status, and cancel or change your plan, from your profile page. For web purchases the "Manage subscription" link opens a page hosted by RevenueCat.

Cookies

We use essential cookies only: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The "Sign in with Google" button on our login page is served by Google and may store its own sign-in state in your browser under Google's privacy policy. During membership checkout, RevenueCat and Stripe may set cookies or browser storage of their own that are needed to complete the payment and to detect fraud.

Usage measurement

To understand which pages and features are useful, we count visits and actions (for example, page views and searches) using our own systems. This measurement uses no cookies and no third-party analytics services. Anonymous visits are counted with a short-lived code that changes every day and cannot identify you or follow you across days. For signed-in accounts we also note whether the account has a paid membership, so we can see which features members use. We also note an approximate location (country and state) using a lookup that runs entirely on our own server; your IP address is not sent to anyone else and is not stored with any of this data.

How we use your information

We use the information above to provide your account, save your collections and wishlists, process membership payments and unlock member features, keep the service secure, answer billing questions and handle refunds, and respond when you contact us. That is the full list.

Third-party services

  • Hosting: the site and its database run on cloud infrastructure providers, which process data on our behalf.
  • Billing: RevenueCat manages memberships and Stripe processes card payments for purchases made on the website, as described under Payments above. Apple and Google handle purchases made inside our apps. Each of these companies handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.
  • Email delivery: account emails, such as verification links and password resets, are sent through Resend, an email delivery service, which processes your email address and the message content on our behalf.
  • Bot protection: the sign-up form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated scripts. Turnstile may process your IP address and browser characteristics under Cloudflare's privacy policy. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • Google Sign-In: signing in with Google is optional and uses Google Identity Services. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements: we use that information only to sign you in and maintain your account, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except as needed to run the service or as required by law. You can disconnect BeerCanTracker from your Google account at any time from your Google account permissions page; your BeerCanTracker account stays, and you can set a password for it with the reset link on the login page.
  • AI descriptions: some can descriptions are generated with Google's Gemini models from catalog data about the cans. No personal information is sent to these models.
  • Marketplace listings: some pages show current listings from marketplaces such as eBay, with links to those sites. These are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission on purchases, but we send no personal information to marketplaces and the links are the same for every visitor. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and your personal information at any time using the contact below, and we will honor the request. Content about cans that you contribute to the database, such as uploaded can images, belongs to BeerCanTracker under our Terms of Service: after a deletion request it is kept in de-identified form, with no connection to you.

Billing records are different: we keep the subscription history described above for as long as we need it for accounting, tax, and dispute purposes, which can be several years, even after your account is deleted. Once your account is gone these records are no longer linked to a usable account on the Service. RevenueCat, Stripe, Apple, and Google keep their own transaction records under their own policies.

Security

Traffic to the site is encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are stored only in hashed form, and access to production data is restricted. Payment details are handled entirely by our billing providers and are never stored on our systems.

Children

BeerCanTracker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, these rights may also be guaranteed by law. Contact us and we will respond. You can cancel a membership at any time from your profile page, or through Apple or Google for purchases made in our apps.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. For significant changes we will note it on the site.
