20 Grand Select Cream Ale 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Associated 20 Grand Cream Ale

The 20 Grand Select Cream Ale can represents a notable chapter in mid-century American regional brewing consolidation. Originally created and popularized by the Red Top Brewing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, the 20 Grand brand was widely recognized for its distinctive horseshoe emblem and the traditional slogan, "Here's Luck". Over subsequent decades, as regional brewing assets shifted hands across the Midwest, the brand moved through Terre Haute Brewing before coming under the umbrella of the Associated Brewing Company, which operated the historic Sterling brewery facility on Fulton Avenue in Evansville, Indiana.

During Associated's operation of the Evansville plant—frequently designated on mandatory labels as Sterling DBA Associated—the company packaged 20 Grand Select Cream Ale to serve regional retail distribution. This can reflects the commercial design adaptations implemented by Associated as it sustained established legacy brands alongside its primary regional staples.

For breweriana collectors, the Evansville-issued 20 Grand can is a key piece of Indiana's commercial brewing history. The front and back graphics showcase bold typographic treatments alongside the heritage horseshoe insignia. Across production runs of the 20 Grand brand, variations exist that exhibit subtle differences in mandatory legal text, mandatory brewer designations, and graphic trim. The Evansville Associated variation remains an appealing artifact documenting the brand's final regional eras before broader industry consolidation.
