20 Grand Select Cream Ale Flat Top Can

Drewrys 20 Grand Select Cream Ale

The 20 Grand Select Cream Ale flat top can represents a notable chapter in Midwestern brewing history. Originally established under Cincinnati's Red Top Brewing Company, the 20 Grand brand became part of the portfolio at Drewrys Ltd. in South Bend, Indiana.

During its peak operational years, Drewrys expanded aggressively throughout the Great Lakes region, managing several secondary and acquired labels alongside its primary brand. The 20 Grand Select Cream Ale can reflects this period of regional consolidation. Drewrys distributed cream ale across the Midwest to satisfy traditional ale drinkers while maintaining regional brand loyalty across Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois.

For breweriana collectors, this can stands out for its bold mid-century graphics, distinct numerical emblem, and classic South Bend mandatory markings. Variations exist among production runs, exhibiting subtle shifts in metallic sheen, seam construction, and text formatting. With Drewrys no longer in operation, surviving examples of this South Bend issue remain prized additions to regional can collections and mid-century breweriana displays.
