ABC Premium Beer from Hammonton

The ABC Premium Beer 12 oz can represents an interesting chapter in mid-Atlantic brewing history, originating under the Garden State Brewing Company label in Hammonton, New Jersey. Garden State operated as an alternate trade identity utilized by the Eastern Brewing Corporation, an operation situated on North Washington Street that became widely recognized for producing a diverse array of contract brands, private labels, and value-priced regional brews.

Eastern Brewing Corporation strategically employed distinct trade names like Garden State to supply regional supermarket chains, discount outlets, and independent wholesalers throughout the eastern seaboard. The ABC brand was created to serve this economy-tier market, distributed alongside companion labels such as ABC Ale.

The graphic design of the ABC Premium can features bold block typography accented by traditional heraldic crest imagery and classic banner styling. Breweriana collectors document variations of the label, distinguished by subtle shifts in mandatory brewery text formatting, differences in framing lines, and the presence or absence of metric volume designations on the side panels. As a reflection of Hammonton's prolific contract-packaging heritage, the can remains a prominent piece for enthusiasts documenting New Jersey brewing history.
