ABC Premium Beer Flat Top Can

ABC Premium Beer Flat Top Can

The ABC Premium Beer Flat Top Can was issued under the Gold Brau moniker out of Chicago, Illinois. In mid-century brewing history, Gold Brau operated as a trade identity associated with the Canadian Ace Brewing Company, used to market distinct labels and expand retail distribution across regional markets.

Design and Manufacture

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, the can features a bold, graphic presentation dominated by the "ABC" brand lettering set prominently on the front face above the "Premium Beer" title. The label integrates mid-century commercial typography alongside traditional brewing crest motifs.

Known Variations

Breweriana collectors track several distinct production variations of this can. Documented differences include variations between white enamel backgrounds and satin silver metallic finishes, as well as minor shifts in side panel mandatory statements and manufacturer canning codes.

Gold Brau also produced an ABC Premium Ale companion label sharing a similar design layout, making paired sets a popular pursuit for collectors focusing on historic Chicago beer cans.
