ABC Premium Beer Flat Top Can

ABC Premium Beer Flat Top

Produced for the Gold Brau Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois, the ABC Premium Beer flat top represents a notable piece of mid-century Midwestern brewing history. Continental Can Company manufactured these twelve-ounce containers, featuring a bold graphic presentation centered around prominent typography.

Among breweriana collectors, this label is widely recognized for its finish and text variations. Examples can be found with traditional enamel coatings as well as satin silver metallic finishes. Minor text variations also exist across the side panels and mandatory statements, such as differences in the inclusion of the 'Brewed and Packed' phrasing, state-specific notations, and canning plant factory codes.

Gold Brau operated within Chicago's fiercely competitive post-war brewing market. The ABC line was also packaged in an ale formulation under the same brand umbrella. Today, the ABC Premium Beer can remains a favored subject for regional Chicago breweriana enthusiasts seeking out its diverse manufacturing variations.
