Ace Wisconsin Pilsner Beer Flat Top Can

Ace Wisconsin Pilsner Flat Top Can

The Ace Wisconsin Pilsner Beer flat top can represents a regional midwestern offering produced by the G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin. While renowned throughout the upper Midwest for flagship offerings like Old Style, Heileman regularly managed a broad stable of secondary and regional brands, frequently using trade designations like Ace Brewing Company on its packaging.

Graphic Design and Visual Elements

The can features bold, unmistakable regional branding centered around an outline silhouette map of the state of Wisconsin. The primary "Ace" script and block typography are prominently displayed over the state graphic, bordered by clear "Wisconsin Pilsner Beer" labeling. The clean lines and vivid contrasting colors reflect the utilitarian mid-century commercial aesthetic typical of Midwestern canned beers.

Manufacturing and Variations

Produced during the era of soldered three-piece steel cans, the containers for Ace Wisconsin Pilsner were lithographed by major can manufacturers, including the Continental Can Company. Collectors have documented several variations across manufacturing runs. These variations encompass differences in brewery legal markings, variations in can maker logos and manufacturing codes along the seam, the presence or absence of state-specific alcohol contents, and changes between all-steel and aluminum lids.

Collector Significance

As a regional label distributed across targeted Upper Midwest territories, the can is an enduring piece of La Crosse brewing history. It remains a recognized favorite among collectors focused on Wisconsin brewing heritage, midwestern flat tops, and the expansive historical portfolio of the G. Heileman Brewing Company.
