Adler Brau Beer Flat Top Can

Appleton's Adler Brau Flat Top

The Adler Brau Beer flat top can represents the flagship offering of the Geo. Walter Brewing Company, a historic regional brewery based in Appleton, Wisconsin. Named after the German word for eagle (Adler), the brand served as the centerpiece of the Walter family's brewing operations in the Fox River Valley.

Design & Collector Variations

Lithographed by major can manufacturers including the American Can Company, the container features the distinctive Adler Brau script and stylized heraldic accents. For collectors of Wisconsin breweriana, the can exists in several notable design variations. While standard production versions feature light cream or crisp white central background panels offset by bold banding, rarer variations showcase a striking metallic silver metallic finish believed to stem from promotional runs or brewery concept trials. Additional design evolutions across production runs included subtle alterations to the flaring of the ribbon graphics and adjustments to company text formatting.

Brewery Legacy

The Geo. Walter Brewing Company operated out of its central facility at Walnut and Lawrence streets in Appleton. Although the brewery eventually closed its doors and the physical plant was later dismantled, the Adler Brau name achieved lasting cultural significance in the region. Decades after original packaging ceased, the brand's local heritage prompted modern craft revivals in the Fox Cities, cementing the original cans as highly sought-after artifacts of midwestern brewing history.
