Aero Club Pale Select Beer Cone Top Can

East Idaho's Aero Club Cone Top

The Aero Club Pale Select Beer cone top can stands as a celebrated piece of regional breweriana hailing from Pocatello, Idaho. Packaged for the East Idaho Brewing Company, this can represents the post-Prohibition brewing landscape of southeastern Idaho prior to the plant's closure in the mid-1950s.

Background and Packaging

East Idaho Brewing Company operated in Pocatello starting in 1935. In the late 1940s, the brewery modernized the branding for its flagship Aero Club line, adopting a vibrant red, white, and blue motif before introducing the beer into canned packaging. Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, these high-profile containers carried the signature "Cap Sealed" construction, helping the independent regional brewery distribute across the Mountain West.

Label Variants and Collector Interest

The face of the can highlights clean mid-century aviation-inspired typography framed by rich contrasting borders. For collectors, the Aero Club cone top is especially notable due to multiple known variations in its lithography. These variants stem from mid-century regulatory changes and canning runs, with differences appearing across Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statements, non-IRTP mandatory text, state-specific alcohol content clauses, and manufacturing plant codes.

As East Idaho Brewing was the prominent packaging brewery in Pocatello during this period, authentic Aero Club cans remain prized historical artifacts of Idaho's brewing history.
