All Star Premium Beer Flat Top Can

All Star Flat Top Overview

Produced by the Manhattan Brewing Company in Chicago, Illinois, the All Star Premium Beer flat top can is a notable piece among breweriana collectors. Manufactured by the American Can Company, it features the "Keglined" trademark along with instructional side panels.

Brewery Heritage and Lore

The Manhattan Brewing Company, a historic Chicago brewing establishment located on Emerald Avenue, produced an extensive portfolio of regional labels. The All Star brand represents a fascinating chapter in the brewery's packaging history. A well-known piece of collector lore ties this can to a Chicago tavern located directly across the street from an American Can Company plant, where the bar owner offered free beer to factory workers in exchange for sample cans brought off the production line.

Design Variations

The label features a bold graphic presentation centered around star motifs and classic typography. Variations of the can exist across different production runs, distinguished by subtle alterations in side panel mandatory statements—such as switching between "Brewed and Canned By" and "Packed Expressly For"—as well as adjustments in the placement of patent text.
