Alpen Glen Beer Flat Top Can

Alpen Glen Scenic Flat Top

Produced by San Francisco Brewing in San Francisco, California, this flat top can represents a classic example of regional graphic design from Northern California's brewing heritage. San Francisco Brewing, which became widely recognized for its prominent flagship lines such as Burgermeister, packaged secondary and regional brands like Alpen Glen to serve distinct distribution channels throughout the Western states.

Pictorial Mountain Artwork

The can is distinguished by an elaborate pictorial composition evoking the Alpine theme suggested by the brand name. The upper portion displays the gothic, Old English-styled Alpen Glen typography set against a vivid orange sky and snow-dusted mountain summits. A winding stream cascades past green hillside slopes down toward the foreground, where the silhouette of a timbered alpine chalet frames the bold, orange-filled "BEER" block text. Along the bottom base trim, the can carries the explicit serving instruction line: "COOL BEFORE SERVING."
