Altes Golden Lager Beer 16 Oz Bank Can

Altes Golden Lager 16 Oz Bank Can

The Altes Golden Lager 16 Oz Bank Can represents an intriguing chapter in American breweriana, marking the intersection of Detroit brewing heritage and Baltimore brewing expansion. Originally established in Michigan under the Tivoli Brewing Company, the Altes label grew into a prominent regional powerhouse before being acquired by The National Brewing Company of Baltimore, Maryland.

Following the acquisition, National Brewing incorporated Altes into its portfolio alongside flagship brands like National Bohemian and National Premium. The Baltimore brewery produced this 16-ounce container as a promotional item. Rather than entering commercial retail distribution filled with beverage, factory-issued bank cans were distributed as coin banks, promotional keepsakes, and marketing display pieces.

The lithography features traditional Altes branding and heraldic elements paired with mandatory brewery text identifying The National Brewing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Across different manufacturing runs, several variations exist, differentiated by subtle shifts in lithographic details, seam styles, and can company markings.
