Aone Pilsner Beer Flat Top Can

Arizona's Mid-Century Pilsner Can

The Aone (A-1) Pilsner Beer flat top can represents a defining era for the Arizona Brewing Company of Phoenix, Arizona. Operating from its plant at 12th and Madison streets east of downtown Phoenix, the brewery stood for decades as the state's lone commercial brewing operation, establishing A-1 as a central fixture of Southwestern culture.

Marketed under the memorable regional slogan "The Western Way to Say Welcome," A-1 Pilsner became the brewery's prize label and one of the best-selling brews throughout Arizona and neighboring regions. The brewery's widespread popularity was bolstered by extensive regional advertising, including famous cowboy art commissions from artist Alonzo "Lon" Megargee.

For breweriana enthusiasts, this flat top can is notable for its classic mid-century graphic layout featuring bold typography, the "Judged The Finest" banner, and the central eagle emblem. Can manufacturers produced several variations over the course of its production lifespan, with differences in the size and spacing of the stars surrounding the eagle, alternating patent text, and varying placements of the "Keglined" trademark on the side panels.

Today, the can stands as a treasured artifact of Arizona's post-Prohibition industrial history and a cornerstone piece representing Southwestern brewing heritage.
