Atlantic The Beer Flat Top Can

Charlotte's Atlantic Beer Flat Top

The Atlantic The Beer Flat Top Can was produced for the Atlantic Co. facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. As part of the broader Atlantic Company brewing network that spanned several key markets across the American Southeast, this can represents a notable chapter in North Carolina's regional brewing heritage.

Graphic Design

The face of the can features prominent Atlantic branding alongside the brewery's established regional slogan, "The Beer of the South". It is widely recognized by collectors for its detailed scenic illustration, commonly referred to as the plantation scene motif. The front panel pairs bold, stylized typography with a classic multi-color lithographed finish, while the side and seam panels display mandatory text attributing production to the Charlotte location. The can was manufactured utilizing American Can Company's Keglined process, complete with standard period maker marks.

Production Variations

Known variations exist among Atlantic flat tops from this era, displaying subtle differences in mandatory text arrangement, copyright wording, and manufacturer trademark placements. Because the Charlotte plant produced a limited range of flat top beer designs, examples bearing this city's mandatory line remain prominent focal points for collectors focusing on Southern regional breweriana.
