Ballantine's Bock Flat Top Can

Ballantine's Bock Flat Top Can

P. Ballantine & Sons of Newark, New Jersey, was one of the largest and most influential breweries in the United States, widely recognized for its iconic three interlocking rings emblem symbolizing "Purity, Body, and Flavor." While the brewery produced vast quantities of its standard ale and lager, the Ballantine's Bock flat top can represents a much scarcer seasonal offering.

Bock beer was traditionally packaged only in limited spring batches, making these seasonal containers far less common than their year-round counterparts. The can showcases traditional bock motifs, highlighting the classic goat imagery alongside the brewery's trademark three-ring insignia. Its graphic design incorporates bold lettering and metallic elements, with distinct color contrasts highlighting the bock designation.

Among breweriana enthusiasts, the can is celebrated for its place in regional East Coast collecting. Known variations exist across different production runs, featuring differences in mandatory text, manufacturer marks, tax-paid statements, and color accents on the lettering. Because seasonal releases were manufactured in substantially smaller quantities, this can remains a highly prized centerpiece for collectors focusing on classic American bocks and New Jersey brewing history.
