Barbarossa Beer Cone Top Can

Barbarossa Beer Cone Top

Produced by the Red Top Brewing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, this 12-ounce cone top can represents one of the brewery's flagship premium brands: Barbarossa Beer. Red Top was one of Cincinnati's prominent mid-century brewing operations, marketing Barbarossa alongside its namesake ale across regional and national territories.

The container is highlighted by its elaborate central illustration drawn from German folklore, specifically the Kyffhäuser legend of Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I, known as Barbarossa ("Redbeard"). The artwork depicts the crowned monarch seated deep within his subterranean cavern, his legendary beard grown long around a stone table, flanked by ravens in flight, a heraldic shield displaying the imperial eagle, and a small court attendant presenting a goblet. Flanking the lower edges of the scenic illustration are arched banner ribbons featuring the brand's slogans, including "The Beer of Pleasant Memories" and "Premium Beer with mellow goodness."

The lower band prominently credits the Red Top Brewing Company · Cincinnati, U.S.A. This particular issue features the mandatory Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statement alongside an alcohol content declaration specifying 3.2% to 7% by weight. For breweriana collectors, Barbarossa cone tops exist in multiple variations differing in alcohol content statements, tax notations, and manufacturing text layout.
