Bavarian Premium Beer Cone Top Can

Mount Carbon Bavarian Premium

The Bavarian Premium Beer cone top represents an iconic piece of coal region brewing history from the Mount Carbon Brewery of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Situated along South Centre Street, Mount Carbon operated as an independent regional staple, competing directly with its crosstown neighbor, D.G. Yuengling & Son, for local market dominance.

For collectors of Pennsylvania breweriana, the Bavarian brand is one of the brewery's most recognizable and sought-after labels. The can features clean mid-century heraldic graphics paired with bold Germanic typography, reflecting the heritage of the traditional lagers packaged by the brewery.

Variations of this container are documented among collectors, showing minor manufacturing changes over its run. Notable differences include cans bearing the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) mandatory statement versus non-IRTP releases, as well as title variations labeled as 'Bavarian Type Beer' rather than 'Bavarian Premium Beer'. Mount Carbon continued packaging the Bavarian label until the brewery ceased operations in the 1970s, after which brand rights and recipes were acquired by Yuengling.
