Becker's Mellow Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Tivoli-Brewed Becker's Mellow

The Becker's Mellow Beer 12-ounce tab top represents a fascinating cross-regional chapter in Western American brewing history. While the Becker's label was originally established by the Becker Brewing and Malting Company of Ogden, Utah, this specific can was packaged and distributed by the Tivoli Brewing Company located in Denver, Colorado.

Historical Context

Becker Brewing had been a prominent regional brewing institution in the Intermountain West since the late nineteenth century. Following the end of brewing at the Ogden facility, rights to the Becker's Mellow brand were acquired and produced by Tivoli in Denver. Tivoli was one of Colorado's oldest and largest historic packaging breweries, operating out of its landmark industrial complex in Denver's Auraria neighborhood. Canning this heritage label marked a dynamic period in Tivoli's final chapter of twentieth-century production.

Design and Collectibility

The can design maintains the familiar Becker's Mellow identity, featuring classic script lettering and bold mid-century lithographed elements. Collectors specifically target this issue for the Denver attribution line, which reads "Tivoli Brewing Co., Denver, Colo.," distinguishing it from earlier Utah-origin containers.

Variations exist across different seam types, manufacturing stamps, and top lid constructions used during Tivoli's production run. For enthusiasts of Rocky Mountain breweriana and transitional Western beer brands, this can remains an important centerpiece of regional canning history.
