Becker's Uinta Club Mellow Beer Cone Top Can

Evanston's Uinta Club Cone Top

Named after the prominent Uinta Mountain range spanning northeastern Utah and southwestern Wyoming, Becker's Uinta Club Mellow Beer represents an important chapter in Intermountain West brewing history. The can was produced for the Becker Brewing and Malting Company facility located in Evanston, Wyoming.

The Becker family originally founded their brewing operations in Ogden, Utah, during the late nineteenth century. Facing early state-level prohibition statutes in Utah prior to national Prohibition, the family expanded operations across state lines to Evanston, establishing an outpost where brewing could legally continue under Wyoming law. Following the repeal of Prohibition, the Evanston facility resumed operations and packaged beer for the regional market.

The Becker's Uinta Club Mellow Beer cone top features bold western typography, prominently displaying the Becker name, Uinta Club branding, and "Mellow Beer" designation alongside classic company insignia. Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, these containers were distributed across Rocky Mountain territories such as Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. Because regional distribution was restricted compared to large national shipping breweries, surviving examples from the Evanston plant remain sought-after pieces of western breweriana.

Variations of this can are recognized by collectors, with differences including the presence or absence of mandatory state alcohol statements, minor adjustments to side-panel legal verbiage, and differing can manufacturer plant identification codes.
