Beer Crowntainer (Propeller)

The Tivoli Propeller Can

Produced by the Tivoli Brewing Company of Detroit, Michigan, this can is commonly referred to by collectors as the "Propeller Can." The moniker is derived from the prominent graphic insignia on the front panel, which depicts a stylized motif resembling a spinning aircraft propeller against a dull gray metallic background.

Rather than carrying the brewery's flagship Altes Lager nameplate on the main title line, the primary label text simply reads "Beer." Tivoli was one of Detroit's major mid-century brewing operations, and this graphic presentation serves as a distinctive visual departure from their standard brand lineup.

Variations of the design are known to exist across collections. These differences include cans that incorporate the explanatory phrase "Brewers of Altes Lager Beer" and subtle shifts in mandatory regulatory statements. Due to its striking industrial artwork and deep ties to Detroit brewing history, the Propeller can remains a sought-after centerpiece in breweriana collecting circles.
