Best Premium Quality Beer Quart

Chicago's Best Quart Cone Top

Produced by the Best Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois, the Best Premium Quality Beer Quart stands as a classic representative of mid-century Midwestern packaging. Best Brewing operated out of its historic facility on Fletcher Street, distributing a variety of regional labels, with the Best brand serving as one of the brewery's primary lines.

Among collectors of large-format containers, this quart cone top is well regarded for its clean, confident graphic presentation. The design features the prominent "Best" moniker paired with "Premium Quality Beer" and the familiar "Brewery Fresh" slogan against a crisp, contrasting background. The bold typography and color scheme reflect the commercial advertising style common to post-war American brewing as companies competed for display visibility on tavern back-bars and grocery shelves.

Manufactured using Continental Can Company quart stock, these 32-ounce cans provided a larger serving format alongside the standard 12-ounce offerings produced under the same brand name. While the Best label was marketed in standard sizes, the quart cone top format holds a distinct position among collectors focusing on metropolitan Chicago canning history.

Known variations of the can exist within breweriana collecting circles, distinguished by subtle differences in mandatory text, canning codes, and state-mandated tax stamps. For enthusiasts focusing on Illinois breweriana or large-capacity cone tops, this piece represents a notable artifact from Chicago's mid-century brewing industry.
