Big Cat Malt Liquor 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Pabst's Big Cat Malt Liquor Can

Pabst Brewing Company introduced Big Cat Malt Liquor to compete directly in the expanding malt liquor category alongside major rivals such as Schlitz Malt Liquor and Colt 45. Pabst established the brand with bold, predatory animal imagery to convey strength and distinguish the product from its traditional flagship lagers.

Graphic Design and Branding

The can features an aggressive feline illustration alongside bold block lettering. The high-contrast palette and dynamic cat graphics were designed for maximum shelf visibility, reflecting the aggressive marketing campaigns common among brewers trying to establish their malt liquor lines.

Collector Variations

Because Pabst packaged Big Cat across multiple regional facilities, collectors track various manufacturing differences. Variations exist with differing mandatory text layouts, state-mandated alcohol control statements, and brewery location listings that showcase Milwaukee, Wisconsin, alongside other Pabst plants. Additionally, certain canning runs feature branded embossed top lids with specialized text. As a memorable entry in Pabst's historical brand portfolio, the can remains a sought-after staple for malt liquor can collectors.
