Bilow Garden State Light Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Bilow Garden State Light Beer

The Bilow Garden State Light Beer 12 oz can represents a classic chapter in New Jersey brewing history and contract packaging. While the label credits the Garden State Brewing Company of Hammonton, New Jersey, this was an alternate trade name used by the Eastern Brewing Corporation. Operating from its North Washington Street facility, Eastern Brewing was well known throughout the collector community for producing a wide array of house brands, regional private labels, and specialty cans.

This particular brand was produced for the Bilow family's chain of discount liquor stores based in New Jersey. During the height of the beer can collecting boom, proprietor Ludwig Bilow became closely involved with regional collector circles and conventions. Bilow commissioned a diverse series of promotional, commemorative, and house cans that became popular fixtures at swap meets and breweriana gatherings across the East Coast.

Collectors appreciate the Bilow Garden State Light can for its bold regional branding and graphic design. Multiple variations of this can exist, featuring differences such as inverted color schemes, distinct stripe patterns, and minor text layout changes between production runs. Thanks to the storied output of Hammonton's contract brewing operations and the brand's direct ties to the hobby's history, this can remains a sought-after piece for Mid-Atlantic breweriana enthusiasts.
