Carling Black Label Atlanta Can

The Black Label Beer 12 oz can hailing from Carling's Atlanta, Georgia facility is a prominent piece of Southeastern American brewing history. Following mid-century national expansion, Carling invested heavily in modern regional facilities, opening a plant on Browns Mill Road in Atlanta to serve as its primary packaging and distribution hub across the southern states.

The can showcases Carling's classic graphic layout, dominated by contrasting fields of bold red, clean white, and deep black. The design features the recognizable "Black Label" script alongside the Carling heraldic crest, reflecting the brand's expansive marketing reach during the era of the famous "Hey Mabel, Black Label" national campaigns.

For breweriana enthusiasts, the Atlanta mandatory statement is a key highlight. Mandatory side panels explicitly identify the Carling Brewing Company in Atlanta, Georgia, frequently grouped alongside the brewery's other facilities in cities like Cleveland, Natick, Belleville, Frankenmuth, and Tacoma. Variations are documented across production runs, showing differences in the order of city listings, can manufacturer seam stamps, and copyright markings.

The Atlanta facility ceased brewing operations in the early 1970s before being sold to Coca-Cola, leaving a gap in Atlanta's commercial brewing history that lasted for decades. Because of this, cans bearing the Atlanta plant designation remain prized regional artifacts celebrating Carling's southern manufacturing footprint.
