Black Label Draft 16 Oz Insert Top Can

Carling Black Label Draft 16 Oz

Produced by the Carling Brewing Company out of its Atlanta, Georgia facility, the Black Label Draft 16 Oz Insert Top Can represents a notable entry in Carling's packaging history. During Carling’s mid-century American expansion, the company established regional brewing plants across the country, with the Atlanta plant serving as a primary hub for distribution throughout the southeastern market.

Design and Collector Significance

Unlike standard 12-ounce containers, 16-ounce pint cans from Carling were marketed toward consumers seeking larger serving sizes and were manufactured in smaller quantities. The can highlights Carling's classic Black Label Draft branding, characterized by bold lettering and specialized draught-themed trade dress.

Collector interest frequently centers on the mandatory information panel on the can's reverse side. This can reflects Carling's expanding national presence, identifying Atlanta, Georgia as a principal location alongside other regional company facilities.

Documented Variations

Within breweriana circles, this 16-ounce draft issue is known to exist in multiple variations. Differences among these variations typically include shifts in the mandatory plant list arrangement, minor typographical adjustments, and the inclusion of a stylized United States map graphic on select production runs. Because pint-sized cans were produced in lower volume than conventional sizes, this Atlanta issue remains a key target for collectors of Georgia breweriana and large-format beer containers.
