Blackhawk Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Leisy's Blackhawk Flat Top Can

The Blackhawk Premium Beer flat top can associated with the Leisy Brewing Company of Cleveland, Ohio, represents a notable chapter in mid-century Midwestern breweriana. Produced out of Leisy's historic Vega Avenue brewing facility, the can was packaged under the designated trade name "Blackhawk Brewing Co."

Design and Label Heritage

The can features the distinctive Blackhawk brand identity, characterized by strong mid-century typography and the profile emblem of Chief Black Hawk that defined the label across regional markets. While the Blackhawk brand was canned by multiple regional operations—such as Atlantic Brewing in Chicago and Cumberland Brewing in Maryland—the Cleveland, Ohio edition holds special appeal for collectors specializing in Ohio brewing history and the heritage of Cleveland's historic breweries.

Production Variations

Among breweriana collectors, variations of this flat top have been documented, showing minor differences in mandatory text placement, canning manufacturer insignia, and side-panel layout. As one of the brands associated with Leisy toward the twilight of its long-standing family operation, this can remains a sought-after piece for regional and flat top can enthusiasts alike.
