Blitz Weinhard Select Beer Flat Top Can

Blitz-Weinhard Select Flat Top

Produced by the Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon, this flat top can represents one of the Pacific Northwest's most storied regional brewing institutions. Tracing its roots back to Henry Weinhard’s 19th-century Portland brewing operations and the subsequent 1928 merger with the Blitz brewing enterprise, the brewery was a dominant market presence across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

This label design features classic Germanic Blackletter typography for "Blitz Weinhard," framed inside an off-white oval bordered by golden barley stalks and an upper crest highlighting hop cones. Below the primary script, "SELECT" is printed in spaced lettering above a bold, block-set "BEER." Anchoring the lower portion of the central oval is the seal of the United States Brewers Foundation, all set against a turquoise field patterned with fine horizontal gold striping.

The "DNCMT 4%" designation corresponds to the statutory phrasing "Does Not Contain More Than 4% Alcohol," a legal declaration necessary to satisfy specific state alcoholic beverage regulations in certain Western markets during the mid-20th century. Blitz-Weinhard produced flat tops of this label style with minor differences in metallic luster, lid imprints, and regulatory fine print tailored to various distribution territories.
