Bohack Draft Flat Top Can

Bohack Draft Flat Top Can

The Bohack Draft Flat Top Can represents a classic mid-century private-label supermarket brand. Produced under the Richards Brewing Company name in Newark, New Jersey, the beer was packaged for the H.C. Bohack grocery chain, a familiar fixture across the New York metropolitan area and Long Island.

During this era of grocery retail, supermarket chains frequently partnered with established brewing facilities to release house-brand beers under contract names. Richards Brewing served as an entity for canning and distributing these proprietary store brands.

For collectors, this specific can is identified by its glued seam construction and the placement of its mandatory brewery text directly on a brown line. Design variations of the Bohack Draft label exist in the collecting community, with differences typically found in the background color of the mandatory text stripe and the seam manufacturing methods.
