Braumeister Special Pilsener Beer Cone Top Can

Braumeister Special Pilsener Can

The Braumeister Special Pilsener Beer cone top can represents the flagship label of the Independent Milwaukee Brewery (labeled as "Ind. Milwaukee") located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Operating on the city's south side, the Independent Milwaukee Brewery maintained a strong regional presence in a market filled with major industrial giants like Schlitz, Pabst, Blatz, and Miller.

Design and Collector Details

Manufactured on Continental Can Company's high-profile Cap Sealed can body, the can features the brand's traditional Germanic typography, the "Special Pilsener Beer" moniker, and the slogan "Milwaukee's Choicest." The design utilizes rich metallic tones paired with contrasting banner accents, making it a prominent example of mid-century Midwestern packaging.

Label Variations

Collectors recognize several variations of this can, primarily resulting from regulatory updates and production runs over time. Variations include examples carrying the "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) statement alongside non-IRTP versions from later runs. Different variations also feature distinct alcohol statement texts—such as specific percentage disclosures versus cans with no alcohol content statement—as well as minor textual adjustments on the side and manufacturer panels.

Brewing Heritage

The Independent Milwaukee Brewery operated as an independent entity until its acquisition by the G. Heileman Brewing Company. As the brewery's most famous and widely distributed product line, the Braumeister Special Pilsener cone top remains a classic and sought-after artifact of Milwaukee brewing history.
