Breunig's Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Breunig's Lager Flat Top Overview

The Breunig's Lager Beer Flat Top Can was produced for the Rice Lake Brewing Company of Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Established in 1936 following the repeal of Prohibition and operating into the mid-1970s, the Rice Lake Brewing Company was run by the Breunig family, who carried a long brewing lineage in the state.

Design and Manufacturer Details

The can showcases mid-century breweriana design with prominent typography and the family's heritage emblazoned across the body. The graphics feature the notable slogan proclaiming generations of brewing experience, paying homage to the family's historic brewing roots dating back to the nineteenth century. Manufactured utilizing the American Can Company's "Keglined" process, the can features the classic oval emblem associated with canning technology of the era.

Variations and Collector Notables

Among breweriana enthusiasts, Breunig's Lager flat tops are recognized for known color variations on the main label background, including distinct deep blue and rich purple versions. Collectors also look for regulatory stamping across different distribution channels; select examples surface with "STRONG" designations on the lids or rims to satisfy state statutory requirements regarding alcoholic content labeling.

Regional Significance

Rice Lake was a small brewing center in northwestern Wisconsin, and cans from the brewery represent a key chapter in northern Wisconsin commercial brewing history. Due to the smaller production output of the brewery compared to regional and national industrial giants, Breunig's flat tops remain prized showcase items among Upper Midwest breweriana specialists.
