Brew 102 Pale Dry Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

The Maier Brew 102 Tab Top Can

The Brew 102 Pale Dry Beer 12 oz tab top can represents a classic piece of Southern California brewing heritage, produced by the Maier Brewing Company of Los Angeles, California. Maier was one of the most prominent regional breweries in post-World War II Los Angeles, operating out of an industrial brick facility on Commercial Street directly adjacent to the Santa Ana Freeway. The towering brewery complex and its bold signage served as an unmissable civic landmark for generations of motorists commuting through downtown Los Angeles.

The Brew 102 label itself originated during an ambitious mid-century rebranding campaign. According to company lore and popular advertising jingles, the name reflected the pursuit of the perfect recipe—formulation number 102—drawing conceptual inspiration from Chanel No. 5. The product was aggressively marketed across Southern California, positioning Brew 102 as an accessible, high-volume staple of the regional market.

For breweriana collectors, the 12-ounce tab top version of Brew 102 holds historical value as an artifact of Maier's major distribution era across the West Coast. The can's graphics showcase the bold, recognizable "102" numeric centerpiece flanked by the "Pale Dry Beer" classification and the Maier Brewing Company identity. Over the course of its production run, tab top cans for Brew 102 featured known variations that interest collectors, including differences in mandatory canning text, metallic finish tones, lid designs, and manufacturing marks from different packaging suppliers.
