Brew 102 Pale Dry Beer Gallon

Maier's Brew 102 Gallon Can

The Brew 102 Pale Dry Beer Gallon can represents one of the largest consumer packaging formats issued by the Maier Brewing Company of Los Angeles, California. Maier was a cornerstone of Southern California brewing history, operating from its massive industrial facility on Aliso Street near downtown Los Angeles.

Brand Lore and Marketing

The Brew 102 label was Maier's most recognized brand, promoted through a well-known advertising campaign that claimed the brewery tested over one hundred experimental batches before perfecting the recipe on attempt 102. The accompanying marketing slogan and jingle cemented the brand as an everyday staple of post-war Los Angeles culture.

Large-Format Gallon Production

Manufactured to cater to parties, barbecues, and large gatherings, one-gallon cans provided draught-style volume in a rigid metal container. These gallon vessels featured full-body lithography highlighting the prominent "Brew 102" shield and banner graphics alongside the Maier Brewing Company identification.

Among regional breweriana collectors, gallon containers from West Coast metropolitan breweries are historically significant artifacts from an era dominated by strong local brand loyalties. Minor graphic variations exist across different manufacturing runs, showcasing subtle differences in typography and brewery text placement.
