Brew 52 Beer Flat Top Can

Brew 52 Flat Top from North Bay

The Brew 52 Beer flat top can is a notable mid-century artifact from Northern California's brewing landscape. Bearing the North Bay name from Santa Rosa, California, the can represents an important chapter in Sonoma County breweriana.

The North Bay and Grace Bros. Connection

Although branded under the North Bay Brewing Co. moniker, the label originated out of the historic Grace Bros. Brewing Company facility located on Second Street in Santa Rosa. During the mid-twentieth century, Grace Bros. utilized alternative trade names like North Bay Brewing Co. to manage regional brand distribution and hop allocations. Packaging bearing the North Bay trade name holds particular historical significance for regional breweriana enthusiasts exploring post-prohibition California contract and trade labels.

Graphic Design and Variations

The Brew 52 can features classic mid-century commercial artwork highlighted by metallic silver trim and prominent typography across the primary display faces. The bold red, white, and metallic color scheme gave the brand sharp shelf appeal during its retail run.

Variations exist across manufacturing batches, displaying subtle distinctions in the metallic trim detailing, mandatory brewery text, and canning markings from the can manufacturer. For collectors specializing in West Coast labels and Santa Rosa brewing history, the North Bay iteration of Brew 52 remains a key acquisition.
