Brew 82 Extra Select Beer Flat Top Can

Brew 82 Extra Select Flat Top

The Brew 82 Extra Select Beer flat top can originates from Cleveland, Ohio, marketed under the Brew 82 label associated with the historic Leisy Brewing Company. Featuring the prominent motto "Premium Quality Since 1882," the label's numeric moniker commemorated nineteenth-century brewing heritage while competing in the post-war packaged beer market.

Manufactured by the National Can Company, the container features clean mid-century commercial artwork, bold typography, and metallic color accents designed to highlight the "Extra Select" tier. The bold "82" numerals serve as the focal point of the front face, designed for quick brand recognition on retail shelves.

Within breweriana collecting, the Brew 82 label serves as an important artifact of Cleveland's mid-twentieth-century brewing history. Variations of the can exist across different manufacturing batches, showing subtle differences such as state-specific tax lids, altered mandatory alcohol statements, and alternate city and contract canning designations. It remains a notable specialty item among collectors focused on Ohio and Great Lakes regional breweriana.
