Brew 82 Extra Select Beer Flat Top Can

Leisy Brew 82 Extra Select Can

The Brew 82 Extra Select Beer Flat Top Can was issued by the Leisy Brewing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The "82" branding pays tribute to the year 1882, a foundational milestone when Isaac Leisy acquired sole control of the brewery on Vega Avenue and commenced a massive modernization program that transformed Leisy into one of Cleveland's premier independent brewing institutions.

Design and Collector Significance

The front and back display panels highlight the bold "82" insignia alongside the phrase "Premium Quality Since 1882," framed by heraldic ribbon work and bold mid-century lettering. As Leisy was one of Ohio's longest-operating family brewing legacies prior to its closure, cans from this brand line are central pieces of Cleveland industrial and brewing history.

Known Variations

Collectors have documented variations across production runs, including examples bearing state-specific tax lids (such as Michigan tax lid stampings), varying statutory alcohol statement wordings, and markings from different container manufacturers, including the National Can Company.
