Brucks Beer Quart

The Brucks Beer Quart Cone Top

The Brucks Beer Quart represents a significant piece of Cincinnati, Ohio brewing history. Produced for The Bruckmann Company—a landmark brewery established in 1856 in Cincinnati's Cumminsville district by Bavarian immigrant Frederick Bruckmann and his brother John Casper—the quart can showcases the enduring identity of one of the Queen City's most storied pre- and post-Prohibition brewing families.

Bruckmann holds a celebrated place in American breweriana lore for having survived national Prohibition by producing cereal beverages, positioning the company to become the very first Cincinnati brewery to ship beer at 12:01 a.m. on April 7, 1933, when legal sales resumed.

The thirty-two-ounce quart can features the prominent "Brucks" script alongside references honoring the brewery's nineteenth-century lineage, such as "Since 1856" and anniversary markers like "Over 84 Years". Manufactured using Crown Cork & Seal cone top components, the large-format can was intended for family-style sharing and tavern carryout.

Collectors recognize notable variations of this quart can, marked by differing regulatory markings such as Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) legal notices, modifications to mandatory brewery statements, and alterations to alcohol content labeling panels. Its commanding size and deep ties to Ohio's rich brewing heritage make the Brucks Beer Quart a standout centerpiece among vintage container enthusiasts.
