Bub's Beer Cone Top Can

Peter Bub's Winona Cone Top

The Bub's Beer Cone Top Can is a celebrated piece of Upper Midwest breweriana, originating from the historic Peter Bub Brewery in Winona, Minnesota. Nestled near the base of the iconic Sugar Loaf bluff, where the brewery famously utilized natural underground caves for lagering, the facility produced its signature brand for generations.

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company in a high-profile cone format, the can features prominent branding with the bold "Bub's" lettering, distinct color blocking, and the brewery's Winona mandatory markings.

For collectors, the can is notable for its different mandatory and regulatory variations. Production runs accommodated varying state liquor laws, resulting in versions with specific alcohol by weight statements, designations denoting strong beer, or examples lacking an alcohol statement altogether. Other versions display heritage slogans referencing the brewery's decades of continuous operation. Because the Peter Bub Brewery operated as a proud independent regional packaging plant before operations ceased, these cans stand as essential artifacts of Minnesota's brewing heritage.
