Buckeye Pilsener Beer Cone Top Can

Buckeye Pilsener Cone Top Can

Produced by the Buckeye Brewing Company in Toledo, Ohio, the Buckeye Pilsener cone top can represents a significant piece of Midwest brewing history. Buckeye Brewing was established in 1838, making it one of the region's earliest industrial operations, and it ultimately became the sole Toledo brewery to immediately resume beverage production following the repeal of Prohibition.

The can design features the traditional Buckeye branding and pilsener designation. During the period these cans were filled, the brewery heavily promoted its brand through a well-known waiter mascot named "Bucky," who appeared throughout regional advertising materials.

For collectors, several variations of the can exist. These differences include versions carrying the federal "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) text versus subsequent non-IRTP releases. Other recognized variations include cans that feature the "Kraeusen Brewed" specialty text alongside minor graphic and typographic adjustments.
