Buckeye Premium Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Buckeye 16 Oz Burgermeister Can

The Buckeye Premium Beer 16 oz tab top can represents a fascinating cross-regional chapter in American breweriana. While the Buckeye brand originally established its heritage in Ohio with the historic Buckeye Brewing Company of Toledo, mid-century industry consolidation led Meister Brau to acquire the label. As Meister Brau expanded operations, the company utilized its acquired Burgermeister Brewing facility in San Francisco, California, to package Buckeye for regional distribution.

Historical Context

The Burgermeister plant on 10th Street in San Francisco had deep roots in the city's brewing heritage, operating previously as the San Francisco Brewing Corporation before subsequent ownership changes. Having a traditionally Midwestern label like Buckeye produced in the heart of Northern California created a notable geographic crossover that draws keen interest from regional can specialists.

Can Attributes and Variations

This 16-ounce half-quart can features classic Buckeye heraldic branding and typography while bearing the San Francisco, California, Burgermeister brewery mandatory text. Collectors study different finishes across production runs, with variations appearing in both enamel paint and metallic surfaces, as well as differing tab styles. The larger 16-ounce format makes this San Francisco issue significantly more elusive than standard twelve-ounce packaging from the same brewing lineage.
