Buckeye Sparkling Dry Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Buckeye Sparkling Dry Beer Can

The Buckeye Sparkling Dry Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can represents a classic era of Midwest brewing history from the Buckeye Brewing Company in Toledo, Ohio. Originally established in 1838, just one year after the city of Toledo was incorporated, Buckeye was one of Ohio's earliest and most resilient brewing operations, surviving more than a century of local competition and Prohibition.

Design and Collector Significance

The "Sparkling Dry" tagline served as Buckeye's signature branding across several packaging eras. Manufactured by companies such as the National Can Corporation, the can features the brand's bold typography, heraldic crest, and metallic accents designed for prominent display in tavern coolers and grocery shelves across the Great Lakes region.

For breweriana collectors, this can reflects the transitional era when venerable regional independent breweries adapted to modern packaging advances to maintain shelf share against rapidly growing national shipping giants.

Packaging Variations

In collector circles, different variations of this can have been documented over time. These variations feature subtle differences in manufacturer logos, mandatory brewery legal text, canning codes, and slight shifts in the side-panel graphic layout, making the can a popular subject for regional Ohio and Great Lakes breweriana collections.
