Budweiser Lager Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Jacksonville Budweiser Tab Top

Produced at the Anheuser-Busch facility in Jacksonville, Florida, the Budweiser Lager Beer 12 oz tab top can represents an important era of regional expansion for the brewery. The Jacksonville facility served as a key packaging hub for distribution across the Southeast, making cans bearing this specific city designation a staple in regional breweriana collections.

Label Design and Visual Elements

The face of the can displays the traditional Budweiser red, white, and blue motif. It prominently highlights the classic "A and Eagle" trademark emblem, intricate scrollwork, and the historic Budweiser script centered on the body. Flanking the primary branding, the side panels showcase the brewery's standard beechwood aging guarantee statement framed by decorative borders.

Mandatory Markings and Variations

A central point of interest for collectors lies in the mandatory text printed along the side panels and seam. As Anheuser-Busch expanded its brewing footprint across the United States, canning operations adjusted mandatory city listings to reflect its growing network of facilities. On these cans, Jacksonville appears alongside other historic brewing hubs such as St. Louis, Newark, Los Angeles, Tampa, Houston, and Columbus. Variations exist with differing combinations of mandatory city text, font weights, and seam placements.

Manufacturing Characteristics

Beyond graphic variations, the physical construction offers several points of study for enthusiasts. Packaging runs include both three-piece steel construction and drawn aluminum bodies, bearing manufacturer stamps from major container suppliers such as American Can Company, Continental Can Company, and Crown Cork & Seal. In addition, some canning runs feature custom embossing or insignia stamps across the lid and tab mechanism.
