Budweiser Lager Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Houston Budweiser Tab Top Can

The Budweiser Lager Beer 12 oz tab top can associated with Houston, Texas, represents a key period in Anheuser-Busch's nationwide manufacturing expansion. To meet surging post-war demand across the American South and West, Anheuser-Busch opened its major Houston brewing and packaging facility in 1966. Cans tied to this location feature Houston in the mandatory brewery city list on the label, providing collectors with a clear record of the brewery's expanding geographic footprint.

The exterior artwork showcases the iconic Budweiser graphic scheme: the traditional red, white, and blue color palette anchored by the Anheuser-Busch eagle crest, ornate scrollwork, and the classic "King of Beers" brand motto. Over the course of the packaging line's run, Anheuser-Busch modified the mandatory side text whenever new regional plants were brought online. As a result, collectors recognize several variations in the order and selection of cities listed alongside Houston—such as St. Louis, Newark, Los Angeles, Tampa, Columbus, and Jacksonville—as well as variations in manufacturer seam marks and steel versus aluminum composition.

For breweriana collectors, this Houston-associated Budweiser can stands as an enduring artifact of twentieth-century American industrial packaging and commercial brewing history.
