Budweiser Lager Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Williamsburg Budweiser Tab Top Can

The Budweiser Lager Beer 12-ounce tab top can associated with Anheuser-Busch's Williamsburg, Virginia facility represents a significant phase of regional packaging and brewery expansion. As Anheuser-Busch grew its production footprint to support distribution across the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast, mandatory text on can side panels was updated to include the Williamsburg location alongside established brewing hubs.

Label Art and Visual Elements

The exterior showcases the traditional Budweiser red, white, and blue color palette accented with intricate scrollwork and ornate border filigree. Prominently featured are the classic "A and Eagle" trademark emblem, the central Budweiser script, and the heritage guarantee text detailing the traditional beechwood aging process.

Mandatory Markings and Variations

For breweriana collectors, the arrangement of manufacturing and brewery text on the side panels is of primary interest. The mandatory text lists Williamsburg, VA in combination with other major Anheuser-Busch facilities, including St. Louis, Newark, Los Angeles, Tampa, Houston, Columbus, and Jacksonville. Variations exist across production runs, reflecting differences in multi-city mandatory line arrangements, trademark placement, and plant identification marks along the seam.

Manufacturing Characteristics

These cans were sourced from major packaging manufacturers, including American Can Company and Continental Can Company. Collectors catalog subtle differences in can-maker stamps, seam construction, and specific lid stamping details, such as embossed insignias. Because packaging shifted across different canning lines and supplier contracts, cans bearing the Williamsburg designation provide a valuable record of Anheuser-Busch's mid-century manufacturing evolution.
