Budweiser Lager Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Williamsburg Budweiser Pint Can

The Budweiser Lager Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can representing the Williamsburg, Virginia facility of Anheuser-Busch holds a prominent place in breweriana collections. Known commonly among collectors as a "pint" or "tall boy," this 16-ounce container gave consumers a larger single-serving portion of the flagship American lager.

Brewery Context

Anheuser-Busch established its Williamsburg brewing plant to supply demand across the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast. Cans bearing the Williamsburg designation reflect this era of nationwide multi-plant expansion. The mandatory text on the side panels identifies Williamsburg, VA, often cataloged alongside other major Anheuser-Busch brewing locations such as St. Louis, Newark, Los Angeles, Tampa, Houston, Columbus, and Jacksonville.

Design and Graphics

The can features the quintessential Budweiser aesthetic adapted to a larger package:

• Color Palette: Dominated by vibrant crimson red, bright white, and metallic gold accents.
• Insignia: The traditional Anheuser-Busch "A & Eagle" trademark set within the upper oval emblem.
• Labeling: Classic Budweiser script, scrollwork, and the historic guarantee text running down the center face.
• Body Proportions: The extended vertical profile of the 16-ounce format provides additional visual presence compared to standard twelve-ounce cans.

Collector Notes and Variations

Side-panel text arrangements and plant listings are primary focus areas for collectors. Known variations exist across production runs, featuring differences in the multi-city mandatory line, trademark text positioning, and specific lid stamping. Cans carrying the Williamsburg plant designation are especially prized by regional Virginia collectors and those looking to complete comprehensive multi-city runs from Anheuser-Busch.
