Budweiser Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Newark Budweiser Flat Top

The Budweiser Lager Beer flat top produced at the Newark, New Jersey facility represents an important chapter in Anheuser-Busch's regional expansion. Built to serve the dense East Coast market, the Newark plant operated as the company's major brewing hub outside of St. Louis.

The can showcases the classic Anheuser-Busch aesthetic, centered around the iconic "A and Eagle" trademark, traditional cursive Budweiser script, and the signature red, white, and gold label motif. The reverse and side panels feature the historic brewing creed alongside mandatory text identifying Newark as a brewing location.

For breweriana enthusiasts, Newark-issued cans are especially notable for their mandatory text variations. As Anheuser-Busch opened additional facilities across the country, the mandatory city listings on the label were updated regularly, resulting in multiple variations featuring different city counts, typography adjustments, and canning manufacturer marks. Examples from this facility also include split-label layouts featuring bottle graphics on the reverse side. The Newark imprint remains a hallmark of Mid-Atlantic brewing history and a classic piece of national breweriana.
