Budweiser Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Newark Budweiser Flat Top Can

The Budweiser Lager Beer flat top produced by Anheuser-Busch in Newark, New Jersey, holds a prominent place in mid-century East Coast brewing history. Following the establishment of Anheuser-Busch's sprawling Newark facility alongside the New Jersey Turnpike—famed for its monumental neon eagle sign—the brewery supplied metropolitan and northeastern markets with packaged Budweiser directly from this location.

Design Characteristics

The face of the can features the classic Budweiser red, white, and navy color scheme, centered around the traditional Anheuser-Busch "A & Eagle" trademark and the brand's signature script lettering. Surrounding the center label is the standard brewery narrative highlighting natural ingredients and beechwood aging. The mandatory statement explicitly identifies the brewing location as Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Newark, New Jersey.

Manufacturing and Variations

Collectors track several distinct manufacturing variations associated with the Newark plant. These differences appear in can company trademarks—most notably between American Can Company's "Keglined" mark and Continental Can Company stamps—as well as adjustments to the mandatory plant listings, which range from Newark-specific designations to multi-city brewery text.
