Budweiser Missing Data 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Budweiser 12 Oz Tab Top Overview

Manufactured for Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, Missouri, this 12-ounce Budweiser tab top can represents one of the most recognizable graphic presentations in American brewing history. The exterior design centers on the famous Budweiser red, white, and blue label layout, incorporating the Anheuser-Busch trademark 'A & Eagle' insignia, the classic script typography, and the traditional 'King of Beers' slogan.

Labeling and Database Classification

In breweriana cataloging systems, entries labeled with the "Missing Data" notation typically indicate specimens documented with incomplete supplemental record fields, such as uncataloged minor text variants, mandatory brewery list changes, or lid specification differences. During the tab top manufacturing era, Anheuser-Busch utilized multiple can manufacturing suppliers and operated regional breweries across the country. This distributed production model resulted in diverse printing runs featuring variations in mandatory side-panel statements, plant location stamps, and canning line markers.

Collector Significance

Budweiser packaging from this period remains a foundational focus for breweriana collectors. Rather than focusing purely on brand recognition, specialized collectors study subtle nuances across production runs, including:

• Brewery Plant Listings: Variations in the roster of active brewing facilities printed on the mandatory panel.
• Seam Construction: Differences in side-seam soldering and metal composition utilized by various packaging providers.
• Text Alignments: Adjustments in state tax disclaimers, net content text positioning, and copyright phrasing.

These packaging nuances provide insight into the massive distribution and manufacturing logistics of Anheuser-Busch during the era of pull-tab beverage packaging.
