Buffalo Brand Beer Flat Top Can

Buffalo Brand Beer Flat Top

Brewed and packaged by the Buffalo Brewing Company in Sacramento, California, this 12-ounce flat top container is a classic artifact of Northern California brewing history. Founded in the late nineteenth century, the Buffalo Brewing Company grew into one of the largest and most influential independent brewing enterprises in the American West. Following the repeal of Prohibition, the brewery embraced modern packaging developments and introduced canned beer to distribute its flagship products across California and neighboring Western territories.

Centering on bold typography and the brewery's iconic buffalo emblem, the can design represents early industrial commercial art from the mid-twentieth century. In authoritative collector literature documenting early instructional flat tops, this release is cataloged under entry 164. It features an opening-era tax statement, documenting the regulatory standards applied to early packaged malt beverages.

Over the course of its production run, Buffalo Brand Beer appeared in multiple variations that showcase adjustments to mandatory regulatory markings, patent notices, and side-panel instructional layouts. Today, this flat top serves as a sought-after representation of Sacramento's rich industrial past and mid-century West Coast breweriana.
