Burger Premium Quality Ale 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Burger Premium Quality Ale Guide

The Burger Brewing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, produced this 12-ounce container for its Burger Premium Quality Ale, representing an iconic piece of the Queen City's mid-century brewing legacy. Originally established by German immigrant brothers Charles and Louis Burger, the company grew into one of the region's powerhouse beverage makers, famously ingrained in local pop culture through its long-standing sponsorship of the Cincinnati Reds radio broadcasts hosted by Waite Hoyt.

Label Design and Visual Presentation

Collectors prize the Burger Premium Quality Ale can for its distinct commercial typography and eye-catching branding. The face of the can features the classic sweeping "Burger" brand script prominently paired with bold "Premium Quality Ale" lettering. The graphic palette utilizes clean color blocks and metallic lithography designed to distinguish the brewery's ale offerings on retail shelves from its standard lager line.

Rarity and Collector Significance

Within breweriana collecting circles, cans from regional Ohio breweries hold strong historical value. During the era of this can's release, ales were typically canned in far lower production volumes than mass-market lagers due to prevailing regional consumer preferences. Consequently, surviving Burger Ale cans surface on the collector market with noticeably less frequency than their lager counterparts.

Subtle variations of the label exist among preserved examples, differing in factory seam marks, mandatory text arrangements, and background metallic hues. Following the eventual absorption of Burger brands into rival brewer Hudepohl during the 1970s, original Cincinnati-plant cans remain prized centerpieces for regional beer history collections.
